Hello, and welcome to the Terratrike Resources page. Please send me email to add your ideas, pictures, points of view, etc. (katkins@indiana.edu) If you have print or slide photographs of Terratrike or accessories, I will happily scan/digitize them, send you digital copies, and (if you allow), upload a copy to link to this web page, and send your original back to you. Buying a Terratrike

Your best source for information on buying a new Terratrike is the Wizwheelz web site where they sell directly to customers and also keep an updated list of vendors who have a Terratrike to test ride.

Test Riding a Terratrike

Again, the Wizwheelz web site keeps an updated list of vendors who have a Terratrike to test ride. In addition I hope to gather the locations of Terratrike owners who are willing to let people test ride their trike. (Current owners, please contact me if you're willing to add your location or name and location to this list.)

I am located in Bloomington, Indiana, and am willing to let people test my trike.
Jan A. in Kalamazoo has a small-framed trike, willing to let people test. Contact me, and I'll forward to her.

Modifications and add-ons

BentDan has constructed a trike stand, and modified the chainline on his trike, and he has one for sale now, fairing and all.
Steve Nabors has changed the gearing on his 3.0 to 18 speeds, no internal hub. He's also got a great collection of tips on other modifications, mounting things, aligning the front wheels, etc.,
Chuck C. has used collar clamps and BMX seat post clamps to mount a mirror and steering damper. He says: "I bought a steel collar clamp from online from Stafford ...had a guy drill and tap it for the stud on the damper. 1-7/8" ID worked. Not stainless, though they sell those. About $13, I think. 2S114 or 2L114, drilled and tapped M8 worked for me.
Jay has constructed a halogen light on a stick to light himself and the trike at night.
Guy J. has made wheeldisks, a fairing, mirrors, a flag pole, and other additions to his Terratrike 3.3
Randy N. has a Mueller fairing on his Terratrike 3.2.
Dave K has created a fairing mount for his Mueller Windwrap fairing.
Here's Steve S's Terratrike Ideas page. Steve is also the inventive maker of several wooden beam recumbents, very interesting!
Here's Tim Smith's collection of information on adjusting the toe-in and on front end design in tadpole trikes. And if you back up a level, he has all sorts of helpful information on recumbent construction.
Here are Bill H's changes, including bar-ends, cell-phone holder, computer with cadence sensor, triple chainring, steering dampener, and some other goodies.

Gerald C bought Jack Wiswell's "Aero Terratrike" and has added mirrors that fit with barcon shifters and a flag mount.
Here's a drawing and an annotated picture of a way to add a wheel sensor for a cycling computer. (Does anyone know who's pictures these are? I'd like to get more information and explicit permission for using them, and to give the person credit here.)
David Lawson has two Terratrikes which he has experimented with. He's changed the gearing and has made several versions of fairings. He also has some pictures of a Geoffrey W's new fully faired Terratrike.
Etgar Johnson sent me pictures of how he mounts his "Lawnsail" flag.
Paul Richardson built his Terratrike from a frameset, so he has done several interesting things with it.
Michael B. says: "Headland sells a nice little trunk that fits nicely behind the seat (in front of the rear wheel) with no modifications to TT or to the trunk. Good for holding small pump, spares and tools. Make sure to order the model with the velcro straps."

How do you transport a Terratrike? (Aside from riding it?)

Check the bottom of this adult tricycles web page for a hitch-rack which might be able to hold a Terratrike.
I put mine inside or on top of my Honda Civic hatchback. Either way it can fit without modification. If I were to carry it on the roof for any distance or at highway speed I would remove the seat. I use a Yakima rack, and I just put the trike between the bars of the rack, tied tightly to the rack, and sometimes (depending on my paranoia) to the car as well. I'll put pictures up next time I do this.
