this is the relatively new, low-priced trike from gardner martin of easy-racers (tour easy, gold rush replica). it has low-end components, and the rear end is bolted onto the main frame, but it has a very comfortable seat, which is also very adjustable for different sizes and preferences. there's room in the back for a nice sized cargo of some sort, but i haven't got that figured out quite yet. the basket you see here is a standard old front basket for an upright bike.

i have ridden the trike about 25 miles so far. i thought i would get pitying stares in this hip college town, but actually i think the reactions i've been getting, at least from women (young and older), are more positive "that looks comfortable" ones... I think my Terratrike and Greenspeed garner positive reactions from guys, but worried ones from women... those trikes are low, so they look hot-rod-like (though admittedly their rider does not). A friend of mine (younger, more lithe) said when he borrowed the Terratrike for a couple of weeks that it was a "babe-magnet". His coils must be more highly charged!

The gearing on the EZ-3 is suprisingly well suited for going up hill -- I mean, surprising to me -- perfect for the intended buyers. It tops out at a relatively low speed, which is fine, you don't want to be pedalling a delta trike all that fast!

Right now, this EZ-3 has some creaks and groans I hope to work out before giving it to my mother. The bottom bracket is the loudest, then the rear wheel bearings groan when you're turning, and the chain guide is loud -- I always thought I'd like a sprocket as an idler (which is what the EZ-3 has) but I think I will replace this with a routed-out skateboard wheel. The placement and design of the idler is just right, except it has a stand-off which pushes it just a bit too far away from the frame at it's innermost - it can float outward, which is a good idea! The disk brake in the rear is a bit loud, but I believe that is because it is brand new, and needs to wear down a bit.
